Évaluation
•Analyze all major trucking lines used throughout the organization, for example transportation when moving raw materials, products to market, and equipment. Take note if operations are conducted in known human trafficking corridors.
•Use TAT and government resources to identify what the legal definition of human trafficking is and how your organization is at-risk from an industry-centric point of view. This is paramount within extractive industries as there is a proven link to extractive activities and human trafficking.
Identification d'opportunités
Business: Avoid reputational harm and liability from a human-trafficking incident. Discourage illegal and unethical behaviour within the organization.
Sustainability: Help at-risk persons out of exploitative situations. Climate change and human-trafficking are closely linked, as scarce resources and the growing rate of climate-induced natural disasters leave millions vulnerable and displaced each year. Resultantly, the number of those forced into modern slavery has risen significantly in the last five years.
Élaboration & exécution de stratégie
•Adopt an anti-trafficking internal policy focused on demand-reduction with appropriate repercussions for those found guilty of engaging with trafficked persons. This may include termination and involvement of law enforcement.
•Set annual targets for the number of those within your organization that are TAT trained, beginning with those with Commercial Driver’s Licenses if applicable.
•Create a company-wide stance against human trafficking by showing TAT training videos at safety meetings.
•Support those affected by human trafficking by donating to the United Nations Victims of Human Trafficking (UNVTF) to provide necessities, access to justice, and psychological support.
Négociation et contrat avec les fournisseurs
•Require that all 3PLs are TAT trained and comply with your organization’s internal anti-trafficking policies in your services agreement.
Performance & gestion des fournisseurs
•Require that all logistic partners (contract logistics, 3PLs) are TAT trained and registered, and comply with your organization’s internal anti-trafficking policies.
•Register your organization as TAT partner to encourage industry collaboration against human trafficking.
